SOUND OF DREAMS :

DREAMING TOGETHER

Collaborative Remix Event and Sonic Installation

A sonic installation produced for the 2023 International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD) dream art exhibition space. Seeded with the voice of Tony Tenfingers, renowned Lakota elder, sharing his dream wisdom, dreamers share their dreams to be remixed with music by the international collaborative community at MixterPlus.

All human beings are also dream beings. Dreaming ties all mankind together. -- Jack Kerouac

The sharing of dreams is an ancient practice as dreamers across continents, across ages, acknowledge the powerful nature of dreams as messengers.  When we share our dreams with each other we weave together deeper narratives of our collective experience. The Sound of Dreams: Dreaming Together sonic installation brings dreams to life by remixing audio recordings of dreams with music.

A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality. --- Yoko Ono

This project, seeded with the voice of Tony Ten Fingers, Lakota Elder, Teacher and Activist, inspires us with indigenous dream wisdom. He speaks of the importance of dream sharing for individual and collective healing.  He shares with us the Lakota have dream societies that practice communal dream incubation for collective guidance. He invites us to dream together, with nature, for nature.

I’ll let you be in my dream, if I can be in yours. --  Bob Dylan

Dreamers were invited to share audio recordings of their dreams with MixterPlus, an international music (remix) community, where they were set to music. The produced tracks were curated into a playlist to stream as a soundscape in the IASD dream art exhibition space.

Something entirely new emerged from this collaborative, creative process as musicians engage with the dream, offering an enriched or perhaps different perspective, mood, or sense of the dream.
