WHY CCMIXTER? WHY REMIXING?

“I’m sensitive to the influence of the collective in my world, and it’s important for me to acknowledge that in my work. Incorporating source material freely shared by the international ccMixter community is one of the ways I do that.

I’m a writer who loves music. Remixing is a creative way to make songs beyond my limitations as a musician. I love to sing, but I’m not a natural singer. I play a bit of bass, some guitar, some piano -- but I don’t have chops. Thanks to the generosity of the great musicians and producers who freely share their talents on ccM, my voice is heard in genres I would not otherwise have attempted.

I am so grateful to the ccMixter community. Having free access to source material created by so many talented artists helped me find my voice as a producer of sound and song.

Being a part of the ccMixter community has shown me that remixing is a beautiful way for our creative sparks to come together anew -- it’s a transformative process, particularly when the outcome allows us to experience ourselves from a different perspective.

A remix is a sonic mirror reflecting intention and inspiration. “
